Taste of London 2017

At Eclipse we’re always searching for new ideas and inspiration, so last Friday some of the team had an evening out at the Taste of London festival. We work with many clients in the Foodservice industry, and there’s no better way to ensure we’re at the top of our game than to experience the London restaurant scene first-hand.

We had a great evening in the sunshine with lots of delicious tasters and a few G&Ts! A highlight food-wise was getting to try bao buns after seeing the trend develop in 2017 – and they lived up to the hype! Another interesting highlight was the ‘avant-garde’ stand where wood ants and meal worms were on the menu. After chatting with the chef, we discovered that a lot of chefs are beginning to regard insects as an up-and-coming ingredient, as they are much more sustainable.

Not only did we get lots of inspiration on current food trends, we also picked up exhibition stand ideas. Our favourite was the Monkey Shoulder ‘Speakeasy’ bar. You entered the bar via a hidden fridge door to be welcomed by a laid-back, vintage style with quirky accessories. The main backdrop was very simple but effective, using chipboard on the walls with a grey muslin ceiling.

Now we’re back to work and feeling suitably inspired to get our teeth into some Foodservice designs!
